United States of America

You know when you buy a house, you notice little things every so often ("O, that's how you turn that light on outside!" or "O, that's how you open that door when it gets stuck!"). Well, shortly after we moved in, I noticed that the previous owners left a flag holder posted to the outside of our house. I have always loved flags on people's front porches. I just think it's a great way to share with the neighborhood how you celebrate life (especially at Christmas time ... I can't wait to have a Jesus Christmas flag!). Anyway, we were at Home Depot yesterday grabbing a couple of little things and I saw a display full of flags with poles. Artie and I asked for a price check and it was well worth a flag pole, extra hinge, and a beautiful RED, WHITE, and BLUE American flag! Luckily, my husband is a passionate patriot of this great nation we live in, so, after the price check (and months of me requesting that we invest in a flag pole soon) Artie said, "Let's do it!"

(SIDE NOTE: For those of you that don't know that Artie is a patriot, don't know Artie very well. When we got married, we had to get new checks for our join bank account and I just ordered what I like since I carry the checkbook most the time. Well, when we had to reorder, Artie asked if he could pick this time - something less girly were his words - and with one look and a definate answer we have American Flag checks. That's just a small example. I have a hard time keeping up with news, but when I learn something and think that I'm going to share it with Artie, he lets me finish my excited spill of words and then assures me that he knew that already and then procedes to tell me the even latest on the subject. I live with him and I don't know how he knows so much! He's not a news junkie in anyway. He's brilliant and I'm glad he's my husband!)

Anyway, here is a goofy picture to share ... and YES, Artie thinks I'm pretty rediculous to get photos of something like this.
